Randomly browsing the Internet I came across this video titled, “How One Man Survived Being Lost 438 Days at Sea.” Originally thinking it was clickbait, I reluctantly clicked and then positively discovered that the video was promoted as a true story. Immediately I thought whether this story is true or not it will certainly make a great book, followed by a great movie. Then it hit me, there’s already Life of Pi.

As a writer, however, I must extend kudos to the man who lived to tell this story. He took his remarkable experience (or vivid imagination) and turned it into a book. And he was even honest enough to say that he would like to see his book turn into a movie so he could make some money. At least he did not feign modesty for the sake of traditional publicity.

But just imagine what it’d take to survive on a boat with no food, water, fun or pleasure for 438 days. Only faith, courage and perseverance can see anyone through that.
